Biography
Valery Suleiman. Imaev (October 11, 1952) — doctor of geological-mineralogical Sciences, Professor, head of laboratory of seismogeology of the Institute of the Earth Crust Siberian Branch Russian Academy of sciences.In 1975 he graduated from the geological faculty of Moscow state University. After graduation was sent to the Institute of Geology of the Yakutsk, Siberian branch of the Soviet Academy of Sciences, where he passed the way from senior laboratory assistant to a leading researcher. In 1983 he defended his thesis "the Mesozoic-Cenozoic tectonics, stress fields and seismicity of the South Yakutia" at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics SB RAS (Novosibirsk), in 1994 – doctoral thesis on "Active faults and seismotectonic North-East Asia" in the Institute of Geology and Geophysics SB RAS (Novosibirsk). In 1995 – head of the Department of Arctic studies, 1996-1998 – head of foreign relations Department of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic Sakha (Yakutia). Since 1999 – Professor of the Department of geophysical methods of prospecting and exploration of mineral deposits prospecting faculty of the Yakut state University. In 2002-2006 – senior researcher of the laboratory of seismology, and in 2006 head of the laboratory of seismogeologylogy of Institute of earth crust SB RAS. 2016- recent time the main researcher of the laboratory of ingineering seismology and seismogeology the Institute of the Earth Crust RAS. B. C. Imaev – specialist in the field of the geodynamics, neotectonics and seismotectonics. Established patterns of development of the active faults on the territory of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and built a new scheme of seismic zoning of North-East Asia. The author and coauthor of more than 110 scientific papers.Awards and honours V. S. Imaev Laureate of the State prize of Russia (2003) for work (co-authored) "General seismic zoning of the territory of the Russian Federation: methodology and a set of maps GSZ-97".The full member of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) (1996). He was awarded the prize of the Russian Federation for the creation of maps of seismic zoning of Russia (2003) and the prize of the Government of Yakutia for the study of seismotectonics of the Russian Arctic (2016)
